Spanning 400 acres, our mission is a three-stage initiative to secure, sustain, and vitalize Florida’s native habitat—nurturing natural behaviors, restoring the land, and empowering native species to flourish where they belong.

Planting hundreds of Florida native fruit and nut trees - including persimmon and Chickasaw plum, with a strategic mix of young saplings and more mature specimens - we are expanding a reliable, naturally abundant food source to help sustain the growing wildlife population in the sanctuary.
By prioritizing Florida-native species that produce fruit and nuts favored by local animals, we're creating a more self-reliant ecosystem where wildlife can forage naturally as their numbers increase. This approach reduces reliance on supplemental feeding over time, promotes healthier foraging behaviors, supports biodiversity (including pollinators drawn to the blooms), and contributes to long-term ecological resilience in the refuge.
Hurricane debris currently chokes our primary freshwater source. This initiative will clean and restore natural flow for clean water.
By increasing both the quantity and quality of freshwater sources inside the sanctuary grounds, we ensure our animals have ample resources for their own survival as well as future generations.
