We protect the sanctuary from outside threats, but we do not control everything that happens within it. This is a huge natural environment where animals live, behave, and interact on their own terms within our expanding borders.

The bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a medium-sized wild cat native to North America, recognized for its short “bobbed” tail, tufted ears, and spotted or streaked fur.
The Florida black bear (Ursus americanus floridanus) is a subspecies of the American black bear native to the forests, swamps, and scrublands of Florida.
The swamp rabbit (Sylvilagus aquaticus), sometimes found in parts of northern Florida, is a large species of cottontail rabbit adapted to wetland habitats such as swamps, marshes, and river floodplains.
White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are adaptable North American herbivores recognized by the white underside of their tail. In Florida, they inhabit forests and wetlands; the diminutive Key deer is a unique local subspecies.
